Peachy Keen

Ahhhh, the beautiful peach. One of the best fruits going. I have found a lot of people, including Jim, can't get past the fuzz. The fuzz gives peaches their character and charm! I got a basket of freestone peaches. Don't they look delicious?

So I have 2-3 pounds of peaches. I can't eat all of them and Jim won't, so what's a girl to do?

BAKE!

Both of these recipes are from La Dolce Vegan by the lovely Sarah Kramer.

.

The first thing I made was Peachy Pecan Muffins. Holy crap, were these good! I loved the sugar and pecan crumb mixture that got sprinkled on top. And inside....

.

So moist and delcious. Cinnamon gave it just enough spicy goodness. The recipe said frozen peaches, but fresh is always better. YUM!

Next up - Wolffie's Quick Peach Cobbler.

.

Another winner! This was so easy (so were the muffins) and it was sooooo good!! The batter is put in the pan first, then the hot peach mixture gets poured on top. No stirring!! Just throw it in the oven. We both had a big bowl for dessert.

.

.

It kept OK until the next day, but I wouldn't want to have it much after that. It would get too soggy. It wasn't a problem at my house. It was pretty much done for after the second go-round. This recipe also called for frozen peaches, but again, fresh is better. It is good to know that if in the dead of winter, I'm craving a peach dessert, I can do both of these recipes with frozen fruit.

I put the leftover muffins in the freezer and have since thawed one out here and there to take to work for a snack and they freeze wonderfully.

Even Jim, a peach-fuzz-phobe, really enjoyed both of these goodies.

PEACHY!

Oh man, both of those look really great That is definitely the next book on my list.

That's strange, I never heard of anybody that is bothered by the fuzz on peaches. Except for my Dad.. he's allergic to peach fuzz, haha!

I am really in love with peaches right now. At the moment, they're definitely my favorite fruit. I've just eaten over 6 pounds in the past week and they were so ripe and perfect. I'm going to be quite sad when the season is over. But by then, I'm sure I'll have a new favorite fruit.

I'm not crazyzabout peach fuzz either. It doesn't stop me from eating them, cause I know that when i get past the fuss there is something amazing inside. But, when I'm tired of fuzz, I just eat nectarines instead.

Both desserts look amazing!

Hey Kleo! The peach cobbler is good. I highly recommend it. We'll have to make some arrangements for October. Definitely!

Melody, the peaches around here are pretty good, so far. Glad you like The Hip. I think they're amazing. Glad I could help you out!

Tania, La Dolce Vegan would be great for you if you're heading back to school. Most of the recipes are simple and take no time to prepare.

Crystal, 6 pounds of peaches?! Wow! In a way, I like that they are only available for a short time. It makes them even more of treat when we do get them.

Megan, I don't mind the fuzz at all and both were amazing! I was tempted to serve the cobbler with ice cream, but it was so good just plain, that I forgot all about it. BTW, loved your birthday cakes!

Carrie, I LOVE peaches, too. The fuzz has never bothered me. I think my mom is more of a nectarine person, so I didn't eat as many peaches until I growed-up and moved-out. :) I heart fuzz!

i <3 the fuzz- seems weird if it's not there. peaches are supposed to be fuzzy the fuzzier the better

I feel so weird biting into a peach--I have sensitive teeth so it gives me a werid chill.

Hi Carrie

Thanks for the great ideas for cooking with peaches. I guess I should venture away from pies a bit!

As much as I love peaches I can't get over the fuzz. It makes my skin crawl when I touch it. However, I will gladly eat one if someone peels it for me and then dips it in homemade Italian wine. :-)
