I puttered around making this while Jim was getting the BBQ ready. The recipe said it was to be served warm, but once I got it all together and in the bowl, it just sat at room temp and it was fine. Doesn't it look pretty?
And it tasted wonderful! We all really liked it and had second helpings. The recipe makes a huge amount, so I halved it and we still had lots of leftovers for lunches.
Along with the quinoa, Jim barbecued corn on the cob that he picked up fresh and the last package of Morningstar Veggie Dogs that we'd gotten on our last trip to the States. We like these veggie dogs the best so we stock up when we go across the border. The best Canadian veggie dogs, we think, are Oh Naturel! but still not as good as the Morningstar brand.
I think Jim and I did a great job with dinner that night.

tomororw i have to make rice and rye. ever have rye? i used to HATE rye bread so i'm a little worried
I've had rye in liquid form. HA!
I actually really like rye bread. I'll pop over to your blog to see how you make out. Cheers!
Looks sooo good! What are the black flecks in the quinoa salad? Nori? Olives? I can't tell... both are awesome..
beautiful vegan bbq! the salad looks scrumptious & big props to jim on the corn + dogs. i enjoy getting the meatout mondays newsletter -- good stuff! :o)
Roasted corn is so great b/c it caramelizes all those sweet nummy flavors. mm

Looks awesome! Keen-wah! Love it!
This is, like, the fourth quinoa post I've seen today! The powers that be are pushing me to make some quinoa . . . when I get back from my work trip!
Everything looks delish, by the way! I love grilled corn.
Love the quinoa! The salad looks real purty!
Beautiful salad and delicious looking meal! Those Morningstar dogs are the only ones I ever buy, they really are the best. I like to slice them in mac & cheeze when I feel like white trashing it up. I love rye, it is one of my favorite grains. Especially dark sour rye breads, yum! TK, if you want to see what rye looks like when it get really scary you should check out mämmi http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mammi. I think the Finns just serve it to foreigners as a joke.
fab looking salad! looks like a perfect bbq dinner! lucky you!

Ellen
Beverly Lynn Bennett... I have heard this name before, but I don't think I've ever seen any of her cookbooks. Your whole plate is beautiful... that salad esp.
I love quinoa; it's so nutritious and easy to make. I like to toss mine with herbs and olive oil once it's done cooking to give it a little extra flavour. Red quinoa is good, too, and it's really colourful.
Corn looks great, too!
YUM! I love quinoa, I should try it in salad form. I guess we are lucky here in the states that those veggie dogs are sold everywhere. I have to try grilling corn- it looks so good.
Whew, Carrie. LOOKS GREAT!! I just love corn on the cob. During the vacation, we stayed at friends of Peter's (and me) and they made us a BBQ of veggie burgers 'n' dawgz and corn on the cob! How ironic!! This must have been a tasty meal!
