We've Only Just Begun

.
With strawberry season that is. I wait all year for Ontario berries. They never last long enough. Since I had those gorgeous berries, my first of 2006, I had to make a traditional strawberry shortcake for dessert. For the biscuits I used Bryanna Clark Grogan's recipe and for the topping I used Cool Whip. I know it's not good for me and it's full of chemicals and stuff, but I LIKE IT! I'm not a fan of whipped cream and some of the fake ones taste oily and that's just ewww. Cool Whip is light and dreamy. I will gladly admit that I eat it and I like it. See how fluffy it looks. Like clouds on my shortcake.

.

.

And because this is The House of Simon, I wouldn't dare not share some of this berry goodness with my babe. He just got little bits for a taste.

I know it's not good to give dogs people food, but look at this face. How can I say no all the time? HE CRIES. Only once and a while for a treat.

I like Cool Whip, too.

Mattie gets "people" treats at least once a day... she loves bread, and I mean LOVES it...

Your shortcake looks GREAT Carrie!!!

Thanks everyone. I'm glad you like my food! Everybody I visit makes such incredible looking stuff. Too bad we're all over the place - we could have a blogger potluck. How tasty would that be?!

Vicki, I've got a Samsung Digimax Cyber 500 camera. I got it for my birthday. It even takes videos, but I haven't tried that feature yet. If I get adventurous, you may see some live action Simon! :o)

I agree with Simon, what a dreamy looking dessert and a blogger potluck.... what a wonderful thought! Great post.... I also like the looks of those muffins below. I just got Dreen'a cookbook, I'll have to look them up. I have a vegan family food blog. Fell free to stop by.. . my son just cooked up some yummy southern style biscuits and gravy to add to the "potluck".

Simon is sooo cute. I may have asked this already, but is he part Pit Bull? My dog, Jorda is a Pittie and he has a lot of similar features to her. The nose especially.. I give her people food all the time. She loves almost all veggies and especially bananas. If we peel a banana she can hear it from upstairs and she runs downstairs.

Food looks delicious..
