The Response I Got From Body Shop

I had e-mailed The Body Shop earlier in the week inquiring about the sourcing of lanolin they used in their Hemp products. This is the response I received.

"Thank you for taking the time to write to us with your concerns about the Lanolin used by The Body Shop.

The Body Shop is not a vegan company. We do use animal-derived ingredients such as milk, honey and lanolin, and by-products of the meat industry such as gelatin (to encase our bath beads) and boar bristles (in some of our brushes.) These ingredients and materials are used only if they have been sourced in compliance with our Purchasing Policy to ensure their ethicacy and sustainability. We can guarantee that the above animal-derived ingredients are obtained by harvesting and without cruelty to animals.

Thank you for your kind comments about our Hemp products. We hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have any further questions.

I'm glad you got a response. And at least they were honest...but I understand the concerns of others worried about these products, too. I'm not the perfect vegan and and still learning...actually an aspiring vegan. I have used products with honey in it and perhaps a few other things...but I am try my best to eliminate most or all of them. You sure have given me a lot to think about. It's sort of strange...there are certain ingredients I won't use...no way...no how but others I am just not aware of to be honest...but all I can do is try and be educated and go from there! Thank you for helping educate me! Keep the info comin'!

:)

Happy Thursday!

Oh! PS: I saw on someone elses blog a lipgloss withOUT...

Thanks! That would be great.
I sort of struggle with veganism. I am totally vegetarian, but still use some milk products and occasionally eggs. I try to be informed and make compassionate decisions on what I buy. All we can do is to educate ourselves and keep trying and aspiring.
Thanks harmonia. You're great

Carrie ~ I Found those products for you! They're at this site:
http://veggiegeek.blogspot.com/2005_12_01_veggiegeek_archive.html

Specifically the Crazy Rumors Lip Balm (http://crazyrumors.com) which is featured on that above page if you scroll down.

Another product she mentioned is Aveda Hand Relief.

Both interest me but I haven't bought them yet.

Hope that helps - let me know if you find them!
