Best Split Pea Soup

Shortly after I got my copy of La Dolce Vegan I discovered in it the best split pea soup recipe.

It doesn't have very many ingredients and it's a snap to throw together.

Once it's all in the pot, let simmer for 45 minutes or so and that's it!

This pea soup is so GOOD, I bet even Megan would like it.

It makes the perfect amount for our house. Jim & I each have a bowl and there is just enough left over for my lunch.

Split Pea is one of my favorite soups ever... soo delicious, easy, healthful and cheap! What's not to love? I even make it in the summer sometimes.

Ooh it looks good! I like how you laid out the ingredients for us. And I happen to have some split peas and that cookbook! Hehe I will look into it.

LOVE THAT SOUP! And i'm always up for an easy recipe without a ton of ingredients! Ya know, when i was a little girl, my mom used to make me pea soup and i loved it. I loved it so much i used to literally lick my soup bowl clean! Now Mattie sometimes licks my bowls clean... i'll have to tell my mom about this soup for sure. And Mattie won't be lickin' that bowl clean for sure! That's all me!!

Split peas, yum. I like to put a little liquid smoke in my split pea soup to replace the ham -- gives it that traditional smoky flavour. Yours looks delicious!

I love a good split pea too. It's funny how you can have a cookbook and not notice a recipe until someone points it out to you! In our house, we usually cook enough for 2 dinners and 1 lunch too. Although, sometimes, I wish we had more leftovers so we wouldn't have to cook so frequently!

Bazu, that's so weird. I was just saying the same thing to Candi about not noticing cookbook recipes until someone else points them out.

Carrie, this looks delicious. If it weren't 81 degrees right now, I could probably get int he mood to make it but all I want to eat are frozen smoothies right now.
